Primavera Sound 2012 for FREE!!
Although primavera is the Catalan word for spring, the festival has quickly become synonymous with the beginning of summer here in Barcelona, and for good reason! Not only is the weather heating up quickly but the events calendars are soon going to be overflowing with concerts, exhibitions, parties and street festivals.
Included in this are the many events related to Primavera that will be happening both leading up to and during the festival, and best of all, most of these events are FREE!

Primavera als Bars
The two weeks leading up to the beginning of the festival will feature a variety of musicians putting on intimate, free performances in bars and restaurants around Barcelona. A great way to discover not only new musicians but new watering holes as well!

Primavera a Viva Veu
This year Primavera has partnered with the cultural organization A Viva Veu for two nights of acoustic delicacies at Fantástico Club (Passatge dels Escudellers, 3). No mics, no amps, just free music!

Primavera al Parc
June 2 & 3 at a Parc de la Ciutadella will feature free performances by some of the artists playing at the main Forum stage, as well as Minimúsica, the portion of Primavera that is dedicated to children’s music.
Some of the names that have been confirmed so far for the performances at the park: Veronica Falls, Obits, Nick Garrie, Dirty Beaches, Milk Music, Girls Names, Bleached, The Free Fall Band, Boreals, April Fools Day, Cosmen Adelaida & Ocellot.
The artists playing Minimúsica are: FRED I SON, INTERNET2, & REFREE.
Primavera x Arc de Triomf
There will be a stage set up at the Arc de Triomf on both the opening and closing days of Primavera featuring free performances by some of the artists that will also be performing at the Fòrum.

Flatstock & Beefeater In-Èdit
In addition to all the free music that comes along with the Primavera Sound Festival, the organizers of the festival have also put together a free exhibition that will showcase the crème de la crème of concert posters from around the world.
Entitled ‘Flatstck: The world of Music Posters,’ it will take place at Virreina Centre de la Imatge (La Rambla, 99) from May 15 – June 3.

Beefeater In-Èdit is a series of music documentaries that will be screening the evenings of May 28, 29 & 30 at Cine Maldà (Carrer del Pi, 5). They will be screening CPH:DOX presents: Turning, Next Music Station: Morocco, and The Beat Is the Law: Fanfare for the Common People, all in their original versions. THE OFFICIAL SAN MIGUEL PRIMAVERA SOUND FESTIVAL (not free!)

For the past ten years San Miguel Primavera Sound has been bringing a wide range of musicians to an international stage for a festival like none other. Focusing largely on independent music, the festival has its roots in rock, pop and electronic music but is definitely not afraid to branch out.
Each year the festival grows into something more dynamic and diverse than its previous incarnation. Last year Primavera Sound boasted an attendance of 123,000, which will surely be topped in 2012. The three day festival takes place from May 30 to June 3, at Port Fòrum, with 3 separate stages for your listening pleasure.
